Mirwaiz condemns harassment of Hurriyat leader’s family

Srinagar, August 15, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, today, condemned the harassment of Hurriyat leader Shahid-ul-Islam’s family by the Indian agencies. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the Indian agencies tormented the wife and children of Shahid-ul-Islam. He said that these agencies were repeatedly visiting Shahid-ul-Islam’s home to harass his family members. Shahid-ul-Islam, he added, has been arbitrarily detained with no charges proved against him, and is languishing in subhuman condition at Delhi’s Tihar Jail for his political beliefs.

Earlier, wife of Shahid-ul-Islam, Nuzhat Qadri, had said that the family was being harassed by the Indian agencies since his husband had been jailed by the Delhi-based National Investigation Agency (NIA). Meanwhile, Muslim Khawateen Markaz in a statement denounced the raid by the Indian police on the residence of party Chairperson, Yasmeen Raja in Pampore, late night. The statement said that the troops also raided the neighbouring houses and forced the inmates including small children to stay outdoors all the night.
