Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Denies Allegations of Illegal Land Allotment

Srinagar, Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has vehemently denied allegations of illegal land allotment made against him by Indian authorities, describing them as unfounded and part of an ongoing harassment campaign.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in a statement issued in Srinagar, clarified that the property in question, his residence in Nageen, was legally acquired and developed by his father in 1973. He emphasized that he owns no current property in the area and has not been formally notified of any charges by the authorities. He views these allegations as a continuation of the 2018 propaganda campaign against him, which he states was later debunked as false.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau had previously filed an FIR against him in a case concerning the same property, sparking widespread concern among his supporters and the broader Kashmiri community, who perceive this as an attempt to suppress dissent within the region. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq remains a key figure in the Kashmiri resistance movement and has been under house detention since May 3rd, further complicating his ability to respond to these accusations.
