Islamabad: Mobilink Bank, a prominent digital microfinance institution in Pakistan, received four accolades at the 9th Annual Microfinance Conference (AMC-9), underscoring its dedication to digital innovation, financial inclusion, and empowerment of women.
The conference, themed “Renaissance of Microfinance,” awarded Mobilink Bank for its achievements as the top microfinance bank for active borrowers of nano-loans, and the leading bank in M-Wallets, facilitated by JazzCash. It was also recognized for innovation and its focus on women borrowers. These awards reflect the bank’s efforts in expanding microcredit reach, promoting digital finance, and advancing gender equality.
Aamir Ibrahim, Chairman of Mobilink Bank, noted the significance of these awards. “These accolades confirm that true financial inclusion focuses not just on access but impact. Mobilink Bank and JazzCash are leveraging technology to empower millions in Pakistan, particularly women, to engage in the formal economy. This recognition strengthens our belief that innovation, when aligned with inclusion, leads to progress.”
Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary, President and CEO of Mobilink Bank, described the achievement as a proud moment, highlighting the bank’s role in providing over 150,000 nano-loans daily through JazzCash. These efforts aim to offer dignity and opportunities to underserved communities, contributing to Pakistan’s socio-economic development.
Mobilink Bank serves over 8.2 million active nano-loan borrowers, with total disbursements surpassing PKR 45.9 billion. JazzCash, the largest digital financial services platform in Pakistan, supports 53.5 million wallet holders, with women accounting for 33% of these accounts. An industry-first core banking upgrade to R23 further demonstrates the bank’s commitment to digital innovation.
The AMC-9 conference is a collaborative effort by the Pakistan Microfinance Network and UNIDO-PAIDAR, with participation from regulators like the State Bank of Pakistan and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan, as well as global development partners, industry leaders, and innovators.
As the microfinance sector evolves with a focus on technology and resilience, Mobilink Bank remains dedicated to its mission of promoting digital-first financial inclusion, empowering women, and advancing microfinance for sustainable growth in Pakistan.
