Dehradun: A Muslim barber, Shahid, was assaulted and paraded through the streets by a Hindutva mob after being accused of love jihad.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred in Uttarakhand’s Rishikesh district on Friday but came to light yesterday when a video of the attack surfaced on social media.
Shahid, who works at a local salon, is seen being dragged through the streets with his shirt torn while the mob chants “Jai Shri Ram.” The mob accused him of harassing and manipulating a woman from another community. After the assault, Shahid was handed over to the police.
This attack is part of a broader trend in Uttarakhand where several Muslim individuals have been targeted by Hindutva groups based on similar allegations. Recently, in Tehri district, a Hindutva group attacked and vandalized Muslim-owned shops, raising anti-Muslim slogans over allegations of love jihad.
