Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has urged the Ulema to spread the message of peace and brotherhood and play their due role in forging unity among all sections of society. He was addressing the Interfaith Harmony Conference organized by the National Paigham-e-Aman Committee in Islamabad today (Tuesday).
According to Radio Pakistan, the Minister appreciated the role of the National Paigham-e-Aman Committee in its efforts for interfaith harmony and eliminating sectarianism from society. He appealed to Ulema to stand up against all odds, whether it is challenging the writ of the state or any other form of terrorism, and support the government’s efforts to curb these menaces.
He noted that there are no restrictions on processions; however, the organizers should inform the local administration in advance to ensure the safety and security of the mourners and routes. Mohsin Naqvi also urged the Ulema to organize and activate the National Paigham-e-Aman Committee at the district level across the country.
Referring to the prevailing global situation, the Interior Minister commended the sincere and untiring efforts of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for reaching a deal between the United States and Iran. He said the Prime Minister played his role as leader of the team and provided guidance, while the Field Marshal played his role as team captain in the field.
He added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir also played a commendable role during the war with India. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry was also present on the occasion.
