National Accountability Bureau seizes record of two energy deals: Rebuttal

Islamabad, September 06, 2015 (PPI-OT): Apropos to the news item ‘NAB seizes record of two energy deals’ that appeared in your newspaper on September 5th 2015. The article has misconstrued facts and presented a distorted picture of objective realities on ground. No record has or was seized by the National Accountability Bureau from the offices or premises of Inter State Gas Systems Pvt. Ltd. That such a strong and baseless allegation has been made without ascertaining the facts is highly unfortunate and categorically denied in the strongest possible terms.

The article seems to highlight differences between key stakeholders in the execution of the Iran Pakistan gas pipeline project (IP) and the import of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). The report goes to great lengths in creating a dramatic impact with events and individuals related to the line pipe tender of the Iran Pakistan gas pipeline project. Whereas the reality is that during the actual events the individuals mentioned were on board in these progressions since the project’s outset after months of deliberations, discussions and arriving at mutually agreed conclusions.

ISGS Pvt. Ltd. was mandated by the appropriate authorities to coordinate the effort related to the import of LNG. The process that was followed was transparent, duly approved by the respective Boards of the relevant companies and followed the established laid down procedures. It is only after this stringent process and applicable protocols that Pakistan’s first ever LNG terminal operations started in record time.

The unsubstantiated proclamations and contentions made are firmly denied just as the extremely inaccurate representation of truths. The progress towards the import of LNG and the IP gas pipeline agreement has only been possible and covered distance due to a collaborative transparent effort and team work of all the stakeholders involved.
