National Assembly Committee Discusses Infrastructure and Maintenance at Parliament Lodges

Islamabad: The National Assembly Standing Committee on House and Library met at Parliament House on Wednesday, focusing on infrastructure enhancements and maintenance issues at the Parliament Lodges. The meeting, chaired by Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, deliberated on constructing additional family suites and servant quarters, improving cleanliness, and enhancing car-parking facilities.

According to National Assembly of Pakistan, the committee expressed concerns about the cleanliness at the Parliament Lodges, highlighting the inefficacy of outsourced cleaning services. Members raised issues over delays in the construction of new family suites and servant quarters, which have escalated project costs. The committee directed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to expedite these constructions and ensure the impartial maintenance of existing facilities. Furthermore, the CDA was tasked to provide updates on the resolution of legal matters delaying the construction, with tender openings set for 11th November.

The session also covered problems with car-parking facilities, emphasizing the need for better management to avoid vehicle obstructions. A recommendation was made for the implementation of biometric attendance systems for CDA staff to address absenteeism issues during work hours.
