Islamabad: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has publicly condemned what he described as Israeli fascism in Palestine and Gaza, calling for immediate United Nations intervention to halt what he termed the Palestinian genocide. His statements were made on the ‘Day of Solidarity with Palestine,’ observed across Pakistan on October 7, 2024, during which he expressed profound solidarity with the people of Palestine, emphasizing the need for a ceasefire and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
According to National Assembly of Pakistan, Speaker Sadiq criticized the ongoing aggression and stated that the Zionist forces’ actions in the region are in severe violation of the United Nations Charter and resolutions. He lamented the tragic plight of Palestinians who, he noted, “are forced to face all kinds of deprivation,” highlighting that over 42,000 individuals, including women, children, and the elderly, have lost their lives due to the bombardment of civilian structures such as schools and hospitals.
Sadiq also criticized the blockades imposed by Israeli forces at various entry and exit points of Palestine and Gaza, which he claimed have prevented medical aid from reaching the injured, leading to further casualties. He described these acts as war crimes and called for their immediate cessation.
The Speaker extended a message of solidarity from both the Parliament and people of Pakistan towards Palestinians, reiterating Pakistan’s support for an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.
In his address, Sadiq also expressed concern over the broader implications of the conflict on regional peace, particularly referencing recent bombings in Lebanon by Israeli forces as a significant threat. He urged the international community to respond effectively to what he described as a test of global conscience and to work towards sustainable peace in the region by resolving both the Palestine and Kashmir issues.
Sadiq’s call for action underscores a critical moment for international diplomacy and highlights the intense geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, seeking an urgent and collective response to the ongoing conflicts.
