Navy Committed to Protecting Marine Ecosystems: Naval Chief

Islamabad: Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf has reaffirmed the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to protecting marine ecosystems through various sustainable initiatives, including efforts to curb oil spills, enforce pollution control measures, and ban destructive fishing practices. In his message on World Oceans Day, he emphasized the Navy’s dedication to promoting healthy practices and ensuring the sustainable use of ocean resources.

According to Radio Pakistan, Admiral Ashraf highlighted that oceans, which cover over 70 percent of the planet, are crucial for supplying oxygen, regulating climate, and supporting biodiversity, all of which are vital for global livelihoods. The Chief of the Naval Staff reiterated that as the principal custodian of the country’s maritime domain, the Pakistan Navy is acutely aware of its significant responsibility in this regard.
