NDMA Conducts First Integrated National Search, Rescue Simulation Exercise

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority conducted its first-ever Integrated National Search and Rescue multi-hazard simulation exercise in Islamabad today to strengthen coordinated disaster response across the country.

According to Radio Pakistan, the exercise was driven by NEOC’s advanced risk analysis and combined weather forecasting, satellite data, and real-time monitoring to shift from reactive response to anticipatory disaster management.

The simulation brought together key national and provincial stakeholders, including rescue services, civil defence, armed forces, and humanitarian organizations, to respond to scenarios such as glacial lake outburst floods, widespread flooding, and a major earthquake.

Participants demonstrated coordinated deployment, real-time information sharing, and unified command, with strong emphasis on early warning systems and community-level response.

Chairman NDMA, Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, said integrating predictive analytics with response mechanisms is vital to minimizing disaster impacts. He reaffirmed NDMA’s commitment to strengthening preparedness and institutionalizing such exercises nationwide.
