New Media Facilitation Centre Opens in Islamabad Ahead of SCO Summit

Islamabad: The Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, inaugurated the new Media Facilitation Centre at the Pak-China Friendship Center today, aiming to support both local and foreign media covering the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the newly established center is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including a computer lab, high-speed internet, digital and podcast studios, a media library, and a conference room, all designed to meet international standards. The Information Minister emphasized that the government has consolidated these facilities under one roof to ensure efficient media operations during the SCO summit.

In his remarks at a news conference, Minister Tarar expressed pride in hosting the summit, highlighting it as a demonstration of Pakistan’s capability to organize significant events. He noted that the Media Facilitation Centre is part of broader efforts to present a positive image of Pakistan to the international community. The minister also assured that the security arrangements for the summit are foolproof, particularly in the red zone, ensuring a safe environment for all attendees.

Minister Tarar also touched on economic aspects, mentioning that Pakistan’s economic indicators are improving and that international organizations recognize Pakistan as an emerging economy. He expressed hope that the summit and the facilities provided would leave a lasting positive impression of Pakistan’s hospitality and its readiness to host global events.
