Ninth of Muharram Observed with Solemnity Across Pakistan

Islamabad: The 9th of Muharram-ul Haram was observed today with due solemnity and respect to pay homage to the sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions in Karbala. Majalis were held in all small and major cities, and processions of Tazia and Alam were also taken out in different cities.

According to Radio Pakistan, in the federal capital of Islamabad, the 9th Muharram procession emerged from Markzai Imam Bargah G-6/2. After passing through its traditional route, the procession will culminate at the same point. Elaborate security arrangements have been made to thwart any untoward incident. Meanwhile, on the directions of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, a mobile control room has been established for the first time in Islamabad as part of the Ashura security plan. The mobile control room is capable of operating even without mobile signals, ensuring uninterrupted monitoring and coordination.

In Karachi, the main procession was taken out from Nishtar Park and, after passing through its traditional route of M.A. Jinnah Road, Empress Market, and Regal Chowk, culminated at Imam Bargah Hussainian Iranian, Kharadar. Strict security measures have been taken to ensure law and order on the occasion, with the deployment of over five thousand police personnel along the routes of the processions and at the venues of Majalis.

In Peshawar, the main procession was taken out from Imam Bargah Hussainia Hall, Saddar Road, Peshawar. Several other processions, taken out from different Imam Bargahs, joined the main procession. The procession, after passing through its traditional routes, terminated at its starting point. More than eleven thousand police personnel have been deployed in the city to ensure the law and order situation. Rescue 1122 service has also set up a Medical Response Unit along the procession routes to provide medical treatment to mourners in case of any emergency.

Similar processions were also taken out in Kohat, Hangu, Dera Ismail Khan, and Kurram districts. In Gilgit-Baltistan, the central Zuljinah and Alam procession was taken out from Imam Bargah Kasra Akbar, Dakpura, today, which culminated at Central Imamia Masjid in Gilgit.
