No Additional Tax or Levy on Petrol, Senate Informed

Islamabad: The Senate was informed today that no additional tax or levy has been imposed on petrol.

According to Radio Pakistan, during the Question Hour in the Senate, Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik clarified that the only levy currently imposed is a 2.5 rupees per liter carbon support levy on diesel, which falls under the IMF’s resilient facility.

In response to another query, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry updated the House on the electricity consumption entitlements for employees of DISCOs, GENCOs, NTDC, and PITC. These employees are allowed to consume free electricity as per their entitled quota. However, if their consumption exceeds this quota, they are charged for the additional electricity used.
