NTDC Energizes New Autotransformer to Boost Power Capacity in Lahore

Lahore: In a move to enhance power transmission capacity, the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) has successfully energized a second 250 MVA autotransformer at the 220 kV Grid Station in WAPDA Town, Lahore. This development aims to improve electricity supply reliability in Lahore and its surrounding areas.

According to National Transmission and Despatch Company, the augmentation involved replacing an existing 160 MVA, 220/132 kV autotransformer with the new 250 MVA unit, as part of the World Bank-funded National Transmission Modernization Project. The enhanced capacity is expected to provide a more stable power supply and reduce transmission constraints for domestic, commercial, and industrial customers served by the Lahore Electric Supply Company.

NTDC’s Managing Director, Engr. Muhammad Waseem Younas, commended the Project Delivery (North) Lahore team for completing the infrastructure upgrade ahead of the approved shutdown period, highlighting the project’s contribution to improving the region’s power supply stability.
