Lahore: The National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) has announced the successful energization of a new 250 MVA autotransformer at the 500 kV Sheikhupura Grid Station, aimed at significantly boosting the region’s power transmission capacity. This upgrade is part of the ongoing World Bank-funded National Transmission Modernization Project and replaces an older 160 MVA transformer, enhancing both power supply stability and capacity for the surrounding areas.
According to National Transmission and Despatch Company, the installation of the new transformer is a strategic upgrade that promises enhanced electrical supply reliability to domestic, commercial, and industrial sectors. Managed by the Project Delivery (North) team in Lahore, this enhancement also alleviates previous transmission constraints, facilitating a smoother electrical service to customers of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO). Leadership at NTDC, including Deputy Managing Director (P and E) Engr. Qaiser Khan and Deputy Managing Director (AD and M) Engr. Rasheed A. Bhutto, praised the team for their dedication and efficiency in completing the project ahead of schedule.
