Islamabad, A delegation from the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) visited the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) headquarters for an onsite evaluation of Pakistan’s capabilities in the Automatic Exchange of Information (AEOI) regarding confidentiality and data safeguards.
According to Federal Board of Revenue, the OECD’s Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes delegation, present from April 23 to 25, 2024, included experts like Gudrun Jenny Jonsdottir, Tax Policy Advisor at OECD, and representatives from the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore and Mauritius Revenue Authority. The assessment focused on reviewing Pakistan’s Information Security Framework and data protection measures within its tax systems.
Ms. Aisha Farooq, Director General (International Taxes) at FBR, led the meetings with the OECD team, emphasizing Pakistan’s dedication to global standards for tax information exchange and data security. The sessions involved detailed discussions on the policies and practices FBR employs to ensure the confidentiality of exchanged data.
The OECD team visited key facilities including the Data Center, Security Operations Centre, and AEOI Centre at FBR headquarters, alongside the AEOI Zone in Islamabad. During these visits, the team commended FBR’s efforts in meeting international obligations for data protection associated with tax information exchange.
