OGDCL Awards Grant to LUMS for Cleantech and EnergyTech Hub

Lahore: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has awarded a significant grant to the LUMS Centre for Entrepreneurship to establish a Cleantech/EnergyTech Zone aimed at fostering innovation in sustainable energy solutions. This initiative seeks to support start-ups focused on addressing climate challenges through research, collaboration, and industry expertise.

According to a statement by Oil and Gas Development Company Limited, the newly established zone at LUMS will provide selected start-ups with access to dedicated workspaces, mentorship, and industry insights. This aligns with the Centre’s mission to drive entrepreneurship in high-impact areas, including AI-driven energy solutions and sustainability.

The partnership was formally announced at a ceremony attended by senior representatives from both organizations. OGDCL’s team included Mr. Ahmed Hayat Lak, MD/CEO, and other key executives, while LUMS was represented by Dr. Ali Cheema, Vice Chancellor, and other academic leaders.

Mr. Jazib Zahir, Director of the LUMS Centre for Entrepreneurship, remarked on the collaboration’s significance, emphasizing the shared goals in innovation and cleantech. He noted that OGDCL’s support is crucial for the Centre’s growth and expansion into strategic areas.

Mr. Lak, representing OGDCL, highlighted the importance of sustainable energy solutions and the company’s commitment to nurturing future innovators in the cleantech sector. He emphasized that this investment in entrepreneurship will contribute to the advancement of Pakistan’s energy industry.

Following the announcement, the OGDCL delegation toured the LCE facilities, including the Makers Lab, to observe the entrepreneurial potential first-hand. Looking forward, LCE aims to explore further collaborations to empower entrepreneurs with innovative solutions that can create lasting impact.
