Islamabad: In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing healthcare accessibility, the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has donated three Mobile Eye Operation Theatre Units to Al-Shifa Trust. These units, the first of their kind in Pakistan, were unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by OGDCL’s Managing Director and CEO, Ahmed Hayat Lak.
The innovative surgical units are designed to bring vital eye care services to underserved communities. Each unit is equipped with a pre-operative section that features a modern autoclave, an 18KW generator, and a pre-operative assessment area that can accommodate four to five patients simultaneously.
Furthermore, the surgical area of each unit is fitted with twin operating tables, allowing two surgeons to perform procedures concurrently. This design is expected to significantly increase the number of patients who can receive timely and effective eye care.
During the ceremony, Mr. Lak highlighted the crucial role of public-private partnerships in providing quality healthcare to marginalized groups. He noted that such collaborations are essential for extending medical services to remote areas that typically lack adequate healthcare infrastructure.
The donation of these mobile units marks a significant milestone in OGDCL’s corporate social responsibility efforts, particularly in the field of healthcare. By equipping Al-Shifa Trust with these state-of-the-art facilities, OGDCL aims to support the delivery of essential medical services to those in need across Pakistan.
