OIC Steering Committee Meeting Begins in Islamabad

Islamabad: The 6th Meeting of the OIC Steering Committee for reviewing the progress on the implementation of the OIC Science, Technology and Innovation agenda 2026 commenced at COMSTECH Secretariat in Islamabad on Tuesday. Heads and representatives of fifteen OIC institutions from Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Turkiye, Jordan, Uganda, Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Pakistan attended the meeting. The participants reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration in Science, Technology, and Innovations across the OIC member states.

According to Radio Pakistan, in his welcome address, Coordinator General COMSTECH, Professor Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, thanked the delegates for their active participation in the meeting. He emphasized that the Steering Committee meeting should focus on assessing the implementation progress of the OIC STI Agenda 2026, which was launched following the First OIC Summit on STI in Astana, Kazakhstan in 2017.

In his remarks, Assistant Secretary General OIC, Ambassador Aftab Ahmed Khokhar,
appreciated COMSTECH’s efforts in hosting this important meeting. He also emphasized the need for greater interactions with the member states for the successful implementation of STI agenda 2026, and to define future actions beyond 2026.
