Overloading damaging national economy

Islamabad, March 12, 2013 (PPI-OT): Inspector General National Highways and Motorway Police Zafar Abbas Lak has said that overloading is responsible to destroy national roads and is extremely dangerous for national economy. He said that no overloading would be allowed on motorways and highways and again an action plan have been devised to combat overloading. He passed these remarks while talking to the office bearers of All Pakistan Goods Transport Association.

The envoy was lead by Mr. Khalid Khan, President Goods Transport Association and the others were SVP Malik Sher Khan, Shoaib Khan, and General Secretary, as the time limit after national strike of transporters has elapsed.

While sharing his views with the office bearers of Goods Transport Association he said that our roads are the back bone of national economy, therefore, it is our collective responsibility to save these roads. Mr. Khalid Khan and other office bearers assured the IGP that their association is also against the overloading but the action against overloaded vehicles be taken irrespective of any favor.

The transporters demanded increase in per axel weight which was denied as it is calculated as per international standards of roads. The IGP assured them that the action against overloaded vehicles is being taken all over the country and the rule of law is being followed by every officer.

He also assured them that no overloaded vehicle from Karachi to Peshawar would be allowed to enter on motorways and highways. He said that special measures have been taken at Karachi toll plaza to return back overloaded vehicles. The envoy of goods transports association assured their full support to combat overloading.
