PACRA Elevates Rainbow Hosiery’s Credit Rating Amid Export Growth

LAHORE: The Pakistan Credit Rating Agency Limited (PACRA) has upgraded the credit rating of Rainbow Hosiery (Pvt.) Limited, a manufacturer and exporter of home textiles and garments. The upgrade reflects the company’s robust export performance and strategic operational enhancements.

Rainbow Hosiery, known for its fitted bedsheets and a wide array of knitted garments, leverages modern technology to produce high-quality home textile products. The company’s operations are partially integrated, enabling enhanced production efficiency and cost controls. Home textiles constitute approximately 86.4% of the company’s total exports, with Europe being the primary market. Garments, which make up the remaining 13.6%, are mainly exported to the United States, though the company is exploring opportunities in Europe.

Recent data highlights a significant growth in the textile industry’s export value, with a 9.4% increase, reaching $13.6 billion. Knitwear, bed wear, and readymade garments have shown notable growth both in value and volume. In line with these trends, Rainbow Hosiery reported a surge in revenue to approximately PKR 5.9 billion during the first half of the fiscal year 2025, reflecting an annualized growth of 49%.

Despite the revenue increase, the company’s profit margins have remained stable. Rainbow Hosiery has also established several operational and compliance-focused committees to address key areas such as emergency response and health and safety. However, the governance structure remains family-dominated, with a lack of formal oversight and independent committees.

The company’s financial risk profile shows sufficient cashflows and an appropriate net working capital cycle, although its equity base is described as modest. The ratings upgrade is contingent on the company’s ability to maintain its market position and optimize operations in a shifting business landscape. Enhanced governance and financial discipline will be critical as the company pursues further growth.

PACRA’s upgrade acknowledges Rainbow Hosiery’s efforts in sustaining its export momentum and its commitment to operational excellence. The company’s focus on compliance, demonstrated by its adherence to international standards and certifications, reinforces its position in the competitive textile industry.
