PAJCCI Strengthens Economic Ties with Afghan Commerce Minister Visit

Islamabad: The Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PAJCCI) hosted a significant dinner reception and business meeting to honor Afghan Commerce Minister H.E. Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad. The event served as a platform to bolster bilateral economic relations and regional trade cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

The gathering included a government-to-government meeting between Pakistani and Afghan officials, focusing on policy discussions to address trade bottlenecks and enhance economic collaboration. This engagement was aimed at accelerating mutual trade interests and resolving existing challenges.

PAJCCI Chairman Zubair Motiwala praised the Government of Pakistan for extending the invitation to the Afghan delegation and highlighted the importance of such dialogues in fostering long-term trade relations built on trust and cooperation.

Junaid Makda, President of PAJCCI, expressed gratitude towards the Ministry of Commerce and Federal Minister Jam Kamal for facilitating this diplomatic visit. He noted that constructive consultation is essential for overcoming challenges and building a resilient economic partnership.

The event saw participation from senior officials and representatives from various commerce chambers including the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Khyber Chamber of Commerce and Industry. These representatives actively engaged in discussions, emphasizing collaborative policy reforms.

Key discussions revolved around strategic priorities such as enhancing trade consultation between public and private sectors, developing a Preferential Trade Agreement, and restoring formal banking and visa processes. The continuation of Bank and Insurance Guarantees was also a focal point.

Both parties agreed on the importance of inclusive consultation in trade-related decisions, underscoring the need for practical and transparent efforts to ensure sustainable trade development.

PAJCCI reiterated its role as a neutral facilitator between the governments and private sectors of Pakistan and Afghanistan, urging timely policy action to unlock regional economic potential.
