Pak-Korea Agricultural Ties to Strengthen Relations: Tanveer

Islamabad: Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain has announced that cooperation in the agricultural sector will further solidify the relations between Pakistan and Korea. He made these remarks while meeting with a Korean delegation in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, ongoing and new agricultural projects were key topics of discussion during the meeting. The federal minister emphasized the significance of Korea’s KOPIA project, which aims to enhance the production of quality potato seeds and bolster agricultural development in Pakistan. Under this initiative, 450,000 nucleus seeds are expected to be produced, yielding 160,000 tons of quality seeds annually.

Rana Tanveer Hussain highlighted the significant growth in potato cultivation in Pakistan, which expanded from 75,000 acres to 837,669 acres, positioning Pakistan as the world’s ninth-largest potato producer with an annual output of 8.4 million tons. The minister also expressed an interest in leveraging Korea’s expertise in agricultural technology to further enhance Pakistan’s agricultural productivity.
