Pakistan and ADB Ink $257 Million Agreements in Education and Health Sectors

Islamabad: Pakistan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have signed two agreements worth 257 million dollars in the areas of education and health.

According to Radio Pakistan, the first program, the Responsive, Ready and Resilient Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) Secondary Education in Punjab Program, is valued at 107 million dollars, which includes a seven million dollars grant from the Asian Development Fund. The program aims to enhance secondary education in STEM fields across Punjab, thereby fostering a more skilled future workforce.

The second program, the Punjab Nursing and Health Workforce Reform Program, is valued at 150 million dollars. This initiative seeks to reform the nursing and health workforce in Punjab, improving healthcare delivery and addressing workforce shortages in the province.

Secretary Ministry of Economic Affairs Muhammad Humair Karim appreciated ADB’s financial support to these critical programs on concessional terms, which would significantly contribute to long-term and sustainable social growth, addressing the vital educational needs and health services requirement of the Punjab Province.
