Pakistan and Azerbaijan Express Satisfaction Over Growing Bilateral Ties

Tianjin: Pakistan and Azerbaijan have expressed satisfaction over the growing momentum in their bilateral relations. This development occurred during a meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Tianjin, China.

According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif extended his congratulations to President Aliyev on the signing of the historic peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which represents a significant step towards achieving lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus. The discussion between the two leaders encompassed the full spectrum of bilateral cooperation, including trade, investment, energy, connectivity, defence, education, and people-to-people exchanges.

Both leaders highlighted the importance of regional connectivity projects and the enhancement of cooperation under multilateral frameworks, such as the SCO, to foster regional prosperity and integration. They also shared perspectives on emerging global challenges and agreed to maintain close coordination at relevant international fora.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended an invitation to President Aliyev to visit Pakistan in the near future. President Aliyev, on his part, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives and property due to the ongoing floods in Pakistan, reaffirming that the government and people of Azerbaijan stand in solidarity with Pakistan during this challenging time.
