Pakistan and Canada Discuss Bilateral Ties and Afghan Refugee Resettlement

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently convened with Taleeb Noormahmed, a Member of the Canadian Parliament, and Mahmoud Eboo, a representative of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) in Canada. The talks centered on enhancing Pakistan-Canada relations and addressing mutual interests.

According to a statement by Press Information Department, Naqvi emphasized the importance of Pakistan’s relationship with Canada, expressing a desire to advance collaboration in various fields. Noormahmed conveyed a message from Canadian counterparts, and discussions highlighted the Aga Khan Foundation’s role in socio-economic projects in Pakistan, with aspirations to expand these initiatives.

The meeting also addressed the resettlement of Afghan refugees, with emphasis on Canada’s efforts to expedite the process. Noormahmed noted that the Canadian High Commission has bolstered its staff and resources to facilitate this, and visa provisions for additional personnel have been appreciated. Federal Secretary Interior Muhammad Khurram Agha and Nazar Muhammad Mevawalla, President of the Aga Khan Council for Pakistan, were also present at the meeting.
