Pakistan and China Strengthen Security Cooperation in Meeting Between Interior Ministers

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with a high-level Chinese delegation led by Minister for Political and Legal Affairs Chen Mingguo to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation in key areas such as counter-terrorism, anti-smuggling, and cross-border security. The meeting also focused on strengthening ties between Pakistan and China’s Xinjiang province, with both sides agreeing on a series of joint initiatives.

According to Press Information Department, the two sides committed to conducting joint police and paramilitary exercises in either Gilgit-Baltistan or Xinjiang, and training Gilgit-Baltistan police officers at the Xinjiang Police Academy. They also agreed to take comprehensive measures against terrorism, a shared concern between the two countries. Minister Naqvi emphasized the strategic importance of Xinjiang for Pakistan, citing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which runs through the region. The meeting concluded with an invitation for Naqvi to visit Xinjiang, further solidifying the growing partnership between the two nations.
