Pakistan and Hungary Strengthen Ties Through Multilateral Engagement

Brussels: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met with the Foreign Minister of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto, on the sidelines of the 4th EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum. The meeting aimed to discuss the spectrum of bilateral relations encompassing political, economic, trade, cultural, and defense matters, as well as people-to-people contacts.

According to Radio Pakistan, the discussion also covered issues related to regional and international peace and security. Both parties expressed their commitment to finalizing pending agreements to enhance cooperation between Pakistan and Hungary. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar emphasized Pakistan’s interest in expanding trade and investment ties with Hungary.

The officials noted the upcoming 16th Pakistan-EU Joint Commission in Islamabad and agreed to continue a close dialogue to promote mutual understanding and cooperation, both bilaterally and in multilateral settings.

The meeting concluded with the signing of the renewal of the “MOU between Pakistan and Hungary on Cooperation within the Framework of the Stipendium Hungaricum Program 2026-2028,” under which Hungary will offer four hundred scholarships annually to Pakistani students seeking higher education opportunities in Hungary.
