Pakistan and Indonesia Seek to Enhance Defence Cooperation

Rawalpindi: Minister of Defence of Indonesia, Lieutenant General Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin (Retired), recently met with Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in Rawalpindi. The meeting addressed issues of mutual interest, current regional and global security challenges, and potential pathways to bolster bilateral defence collaboration.

According to Radio Pakistan, both parties emphasized the necessity of reinforcing institutional connections, training partnerships, and defence industry cooperation between the two nations. The Indonesian Defence Minister praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in combating terrorism. He also expressed Indonesia’s interest in expanding defence relations with Pakistan across various fields.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to developing a robust and lasting defence relationship with Indonesia, grounded in shared values, mutual respect, and aligned strategic interests.
