Pakistan and Maldives Agree to Strengthen Parliamentary Ties

Islamabad: Pakistan and Maldives have reached a consensus to bolster bilateral parliamentary cooperation and enhance people-to-people contacts. This agreement was reached during a meeting between Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Speaker of the People’s Majlis of Maldives, Abdul Raheem Abdulla, held in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq highlighted the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in promoting peace and development within the region. He emphasized that achieving sustainable peace is contingent upon resolving longstanding issues such as those in Palestine and Kashmir. Sadiq urged the Muslim Ummah to formulate a united strategy to support the people of these regions.

Furthermore, Sadiq expressed concerns over the Israel-India nexus, suggesting it poses a significant threat to both regional and global peace. In response, Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla acknowledged Pakistan’s steadfast stance on Palestinian and Kashmiri issues, commending its clarity and commitment.
