Pakistan and Qatar Agree to Enhance Anti-Narcotics Cooperation

Islamabad: Pakistan and Qatar have agreed to further increase cooperation in combating narcotics. The understanding was reached during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Ambassador of Qatar Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater in Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, matters of mutual interest, bilateral relations, and enhancing cooperation in various fields were discussed in detail during the meeting. Both sides also discussed the release of Pakistani citizens imprisoned in Qatar.

During the meeting, Interior Minister Naqvi emphasized Pakistan’s close relations with Qatar. He highlighted an upcoming conference of Gulf countries on narcotics control to be held in Islamabad in April, and mentioned that the head of Qatar’s drug control department has been invited to participate. Naqvi underscored the importance of close cooperation with friendly countries in combating narcotics.

The Qatari Ambassador extended an invitation to Mohsin Naqvi to visit Qatar, which the Interior Minister accepted positively. The Ambassador affirmed that Pakistan is a brotherly Islamic country and that Qatar attaches great importance to bilateral relations with Pakistan.
