Pakistan and Qatar Pledge to Strengthen Economic and Trade Ties

Islamabad: Pakistan and Qatar have pledged to deepen their economic partnership and explore new avenues of bilateral cooperation. The commitment was made in a joint statement released after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to Qatar.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the joint statement was issued following extensive discussions between Prime Minister Sharif and the Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in Doha. The leaders focused on expanding trade and investment links, and enhancing mutual understanding.

During the visit, discussions also covered cultural exchanges and regional and global issues, with both sides emphasizing the need for peaceful resolutions and cooperative approaches to current challenges. Prime Minister Sharif acknowledged the significant role of the Pakistani community in Qatar, describing it as a vital link between the two nations.

The statement also highlighted a separate meeting with Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, where further cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, and investment was explored.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has concluded his trip, which included stops in Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and has returned to Islamabad.
