Pakistan and Russia Sign Agreement to Enhance Parliamentary Cooperation

Islamabad: Pakistan and Russia have formalized an agreement to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between their two nations. This development was marked by the signing of an agreement in Moscow by Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Chairman of the Russian State Duma Volodin Vyacheslav Victorovich.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the agreement seeks to foster closer ties between the legislative bodies of Pakistan and Russia by establishing enduring cooperation mechanisms. These mechanisms will involve parliamentary committees, commissions, and friendship groups, aiming to facilitate ongoing dialogues and legislative collaboration.

During his visit to Moscow, Speaker Sadiq also engaged in discussions with Damir Mukhetdinov, the first deputy chairman of the council of muftis, at the Moscow Cathedral Mosque. In these discussions, Speaker Sadiq expressed appreciation for Russia’s position on Islamophobia and President Vladimir Putin’s remarks advocating respect for religious figures.
