Pakistan and UK Formalise Wide-Ranging Climate Partnership with UK-Pakistan Green Compact

Islamabad: Pakistan and the United Kingdom have formalised a wide-ranging climate partnership with the launch of the UK-Pakistan Green Compact, a framework aimed at strengthening climate resilience. The agreement was signed in Islamabad by Minister for Climate Change Dr Musadik Malik and UK Minister for International Development Jennifer Chapman.

According to Radio Pakistan, the framework envisages scaling up nature-based solutions, particularly focusing on mangrove conservation. This initiative aims to translate years of engagement between the two countries into practical delivery for Pakistan, which faces recurrent environmental challenges such as floods, heatwaves, and water stress.

Additionally, Pakistan aims to expand its solar and wind energy generation to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. This effort is part of the broader strategy outlined in the UK-Pakistan Green Compact to address climate change and enhance sustainability.
