Pakistan and UN Commit to Enhanced Cooperation on Development and Energy Transition

Islamabad: In a significant development meeting held today, the United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Pakistan, Muhammad Yahya, met with the Federal Minister for Finance, Muhammad Aurangzeb, to discuss ongoing and potential collaborations between Pakistan and the UN in areas of development, humanitarian assistance, and energy transition.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Muhammad Yahya briefed Minister Aurangzeb on various UN projects and the activities of its agencies within Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of energy transition as a vital area for future cooperation.

The Finance Minister expressed the government’s commitment to policy reforms and sustainable economic development. He appreciated the existing cooperation with the UN and its agencies, highlighting the significant role that climate finance and energy transition play in enhancing the viability of the country’s energy sector. Minister Aurangzeb welcomed further cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) on these issues.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to continue their collaborative efforts. They agreed to work closely to tackle Pakistan’s developmental challenges and to implement sustainable solutions that will benefit all segments of society.
