Pakistan and UNDP Explore Climate Change Adaptation Collaboration at COP29.

Baku: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has advocated for greater representation of developing nations within international financial institutions. This call to action was made during his meeting with Achim Steiner, the Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), at the COP29 summit in Baku, Azerbaijan.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussions between Pakistan and UNDP centered around potential collaboration on climate change adaptation strategies. They also addressed the needs of communities affected by recent floods and the pursuit of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Furthermore, the talks included discussions on the access of developing countries to concessional finance, which is crucial for these nations to implement climate change initiatives effectively. Both parties emphasized the importance of fulfilling commitments made during the Summit of the Future, which took place in September in New York. This includes ensuring that financial mechanisms are in place to support the adaptation efforts of developing countries.
