Pakistan and US Commit to Boost Trade and Cultural Ties

Washington: In a series of high-level meetings in Washington, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and U.S. Congressmen Joe Wilson and Rob Bresnahan pledged to enhance trade and cultural exchanges between the two nations.

According to a statement by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussions between Naqvi and the U.S. lawmakers covered a range of issues, including the promotion of Pakistan-U.S. relations and regional peace, particularly focusing on the situation in Afghanistan.

Both parties highlighted the strategic importance of increasing bilateral trade and cultural interactions to strengthen ties. Naqvi emphasized the United States’ role as a pivotal strategic partner for Pakistan, noting the long-standing relationship between the two countries.

During the talks, Naqvi praised a recent address by U.S. President Donald Trump, describing it as encouraging for global peace and conflict resolution. He expressed optimism that Trump’s administration would open new avenues in Pakistan-U.S. relations.

The meetings also addressed potential areas for enhanced cooperation and discussed solutions to challenges faced by overseas Pakistanis. Naqvi extended an invitation to Congressmen Wilson and Bresnahan to visit Pakistan, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, was also present during the meetings, underscoring the diplomatic efforts to bolster ties between the two nations.
