Pakistan Appeals to UN for Action on Kashmir Resolutions

Islamabad: Pakistan has urged the United Nations Security Council to take concrete measures towards the implementation of its own resolutions on the Kashmir dispute to achieve a just, peaceful, and lasting settlement in accordance with the UN Charter and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

According to Radio Pakistan, this appeal was conveyed in a letter delivered by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, during his meeting with Ambassador Eloy Alfaro de Alba, the Permanent Representative of Panama and President of the UN Security Council. The letter was authored by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of India’s actions on August 5, 2019.

In the letter, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the severe human rights situation prevailing in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The communication has also been transmitted to the President of the UN General Assembly and the UN Secretary-General.
