Islamabad: Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesperson, Tahir Andrabi, affirmed that Pakistan possesses a robust legal and political stance on all matters concerning India during his weekly news briefing in Islamabad. Andrabi emphasized Pakistan’s openness to engaging with any country willing to facilitate peace and security discussions between Pakistan and India. He contrasted this with India’s reluctance to participate in international engagements due to its vulnerable positions on critical issues such as Jammu and Kashmir, trans-boundary river water rights, and counter-terrorism, which he claimed could not withstand international legal scrutiny or compliance with the UN Charter.
According to Radio Pakistan, Andrabi highlighted the Indus Water Treaty’s violation by India as indicative of a mindset rooted in aggression and resource misappropriation, which he insisted must be rejected. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to adhering to all the treaty’s provisions and emphasized the necessity of upholding its sanctity through full implementation.
The spokesperson further noted Pakistan’s increased diplomatic efforts with key regional and international stakeholders to ensure the effective follow-up and execution of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States. Referring to recent negotiations in Doha, he mentioned Pakistan’s collaboration with Qatar to continue playing a facilitative and mediatory role in the ongoing negotiation process.
