Pakistan, Bangladesh Advance Dialogue to Revitalize SAARC, Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Islamabad: Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to strengthen dialogue and cooperation, focusing on trade, cultural exchanges, and enhancing people-to-people contacts. This decision comes from a recent meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Adviser for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, Md. Touhid Hossain, held on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Samoa.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussion marked the first encounter between the two officials since they took office, underscoring a significant step towards reviving the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). The talks aimed at boosting collaboration at various multilateral forums, with both nations expressing a shared commitment to deepen ties rooted in historical, religious, and cultural connections.
