New York: During an Open Debate on “Strengthening the UN System,” Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Munir Akram, emphasized the necessity of strict adherence to the UN Charter’s principles to fortify the international body. He addressed the assembly on behalf of the Like-Minded Group of countries, advocating for reforms that ensure fairness and resist domination by major powers.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ambassador Akram criticized the current state of the United Nations, pointing out the need for reform to rectify historical injustices and prevent the manipulation of the system by influential nations. He highlighted the role of the General Assembly in resolving conflicts and promoting disarmament as crucial to a more equitable and effective UN.
