Islamabad: Pakistan has called for strengthening United Nations peace operations to ensure their effectiveness and implementation. Speaking at the UN Secretary-General’s briefing on the Review on the Future of All Forms of UN Peace Operations, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, emphasized the importance of maintaining robust mandates for UN peacekeeping missions.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Ahmad stressed that any reforms should not lead to the weakening or hollowing out of these mandates. He highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding and leading role in supporting UN peacekeeping efforts, describing it as the most visible and vital instrument available to the United Nations for maintaining international peace and security.
