Pakistan Calls Upon World to Notice HR Situation in IIOJK

Islamabad: Pakistan has called upon the international community to take full cognizance of the grave human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Radio Pakistan, responding to media queries regarding a recent wave of arbitrary arrests and detention of Kashmiri people from IIOJK following a bomb blast incident in Delhi, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi expressed Pakistan’s grave concern about the persistent and serious human rights situation in the territory.

He highlighted that the prevailing policies, which include widespread detentions, arbitrary arrests, and extensive restrictions on fundamental freedoms, continue to amount to collective punishment of the occupied Kashmiri population. The profiling of Kashmiri youth based on their identity and faith further exacerbates these concerns.

Andrabi stated that India continues to alter the demographic character of the occupied territory and erode the religious, cultural, and social heritage of the Kashmiri people. These measures appear to form part of a deliberate strategy to suppress the legitimate aspirations of the Kashmiri population.

He noted that thousands of Kashmiri youth remain missing, while many genuine political representatives of the Kashmiri people are detained. Such coercive actions cannot undermine the Kashmiri people’s enduring commitment to realizing their internationally recognized right to self-determination.

The Foreign Office Spokesperson urged the United Nations and world Human Rights bodies to encourage India to take immediate remedial measures, ensure accountability for documented violations, and allow credible international human rights organizations to conduct independent and impartial assessments.

He reiterated that a just, peaceful, and lasting solution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, remains essential for durable peace and stability in South Asia.
