Pakistan Commemorates 79th United Nations Day with a Call for Strengthened Multilateralism

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan today emphasized the country’s commitment to the United Nations Charter and multilateralism in a statement marking the 79th United Nations Day. President Zardari highlighted the nation’s ongoing efforts to uphold international law, peaceful co-existence, and global peace, as well as its significant contributions to UN peacekeeping operations.

According to Press Information Department, the President reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to the principles of the UN Charter, inspired by the vision of its founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The statement also noted Pakistan’s role in addressing global challenges and advancing international peace, sustainable development, and human rights. Additionally, it stressed the need to address violations of these principles, particularly in regions such as Occupied Palestinian Territory and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The President called for revitalizing the UN Charter’s values by prioritizing peace, resolving conflicts, and fulfilling the aspirations of people worldwide. He reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to work with all UN member states towards a more equitable and prosperous future.
