Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the State of Pakistan is committed to eliminating the scourge of terrorism at its roots, and the world acknowledges Pakistan’s successful operations against terrorists.
According to Radio Pakistan, chairing a review meeting of the steering committee on counterterrorism in Islamabad, the Prime Minister stated that Pakistan has adopted a multi-dimensional strategy in the war against terrorism. He emphasized that ground operations, relevant legislation, meaningful public engagement, and the discouragement of extremist ideologies have all been effectively employed. The Prime Minister directed the committee to ensure effective coordination between the federal and provincial governments and strictly implement its recommendations.
Shehbaz Sharif lauded the bravery of Pakistan’s armed forces in the fight against terrorism. He expressed that the entire nation, including the families of officers and personnel who sacrificed their lives, takes pride in their bravery and selflessness. The Prime Minister reiterated that the nation, armed forces, law enforcement, and intelligence agencies are united and resolute in this fight.
The Prime Minister highlighted the successful operations Radd-ul-Fasaad and Zarb-e-Azb, along with the recent historic battle of Marka-e-Haq, which was globally recognized as Pakistan’s victory. He acknowledged the effective measures taken by provincial governments, the Intelligence Bureau, the Ministry of Interior, and Counter-Terrorism Departments, particularly Punjab’s CTD, in combating terrorism. Pakistan is working on a comprehensive strategy for the elimination of anti-social elements, including Fitna al-Hindustan and Khwaraij.
Addressing the issue of smuggling, the Prime Minister noted that joint efforts among relevant institutions have resulted in its prevention, positively impacting the national economy. He emphasized the importance of a peaceful and terrorism-free state for restoring international investors’ confidence. Revolutionary reforms, such as the digitization of systems and improvements in the tax system, have been introduced to boost investor trust. A record surge in the Pakistan Stock Exchange and improvements in global ratings indicate economic stability.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister informed that the repatriation program for Afghan nationals illegally residing in Pakistan is being effectively implemented in accordance with international laws.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal, Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir, National Security Advisor Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik, and other high-ranking officials.
