Pakistan Condemns Attack on UN Peacekeepers in Sudan

Islamabad: Pakistan has strongly condemned the attack on the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) in Kadugli, Sudan, which resulted in the tragic loss of six Bangladeshi peacekeepers and left several others injured.

According to Radio Pakistan, in a statement, the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations said it honors the supreme sacrifice of the fallen peacekeepers in the service of peace and expressed its deepest condolences to the government and people of Bangladesh.

The Mission emphasized that such attacks against UN peacekeepers amount to war crimes and stressed that the perpetrators of this act must be identified and brought to justice.

It further stated that, as a major troop-contributing country, Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with all Blue Helmets serving the cause of peace under perilous conditions worldwide.
