Islamabad: Pakistan has expressed its strong condemnation of recent actions by Israel aimed at dismantling the operations of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this move represents another violation of international law and the United Nations Charter by Israel. The prevention of UNRWA’s ability to perform its essential duties is viewed as part of a broader campaign by Israel to obstruct humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people.
Pakistan has called on the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to hold Israel accountable for its actions and to ensure that UNRWA can continue its operations without impediment. This call is in line with the UN General Assembly Resolution 302 (IV) of 1949. Additionally, Pakistan urged the international community to intervene to halt what it described as Israel’s genocidal campaign against Palestinians in Gaza.
The statement from Pakistan included a renewed call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, along with the need for unhindered humanitarian aid to alleviate the hardships faced by those in the region.
Pakistan emphasized that lasting peace in the region is contingent upon the recognition of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of a sovereign State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
