Pakistan Desires to Strengthen Pak-Indonesia Economic Ties: PM

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed a desire to benefit from Indonesia’s experience regarding the Sovereign Wealth Fund model. He was speaking with a five-member Indonesian delegation led by Minister for Investment and Downstream Industry, Rosan Roeslani, during their meeting in Islamabad today.

According to Radio Pakistan, both countries have agreed to accelerate efforts to transform the preferential trade agreement into a comprehensive economic partnership agreement by 2027. The Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s eagerness to further improve its economic relations with Indonesia, highlighting the decades-long fraternal ties that are strengthening with time.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his best wishes to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, noting that the President’s visit to Pakistan last year was productive in enhancing the bilateral relations between the two nations.

Indonesian Minister Rosan Roeslani reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to advancing bilateral relations. The meeting was attended by several Pakistani officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb, and Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kiani.
