Pakistan Emerging as Hub for Global Trade Through Modern Ports

Islamabad: Pakistan is emerging as a hub for global trade and logistics through modern ports and increased investment under the Prime Minister’s Task Force on Maritime Reforms.

According to Radio Pakistan, under the Prime Minister’s maritime reforms agenda, Karachi Port, Port Qasim, and Gwadar Port are being upgraded and modernized. Navigation channels are being deepened to accommodate larger vessels, while harbor craft and cargo-handling facilities are also being modernized.

The Port Community System, web-based customs, faceless customs, real-time container tracking, and round-the-clock customs operations are making cargo clearance faster and more transparent. The Shipping Policy 2026, Transshipment Policy, private shipping, shipbuilding, and ship-repair initiatives are creating new opportunities for investment.
