Islamabad: The Federal Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has approved the creation of the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for Palestine and Lebanon, aimed at supporting those affected by conflicts in these regions. This decision underscores Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to international humanitarian efforts.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Cabinet’s approval includes directions to the State Bank of Pakistan to establish a dedicated account for the relief fund. Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal has been tasked with overseeing the relief operations for both countries, ensuring that aid reaches those in need effectively and efficiently.
In addition to addressing international aid, the Cabinet meeting focused on domestic advancements in e-governance. Officials reported significant progress in the implementation of the e-office system across federal ministries and departments, which has led to an improvement of 14 ranks in Pakistan’s position in the United Nations E-Governance Development Index. The Prime Minister has directed for further enhancements in e-governance practices and a review of progress in the coming two weeks.
The Cabinet also endorsed an agreement regarding subsidies in the fishing industry, aligning with the decisions of the World Trade Organization. Furthermore, the authorization for signing various agreements and memorandums of understanding was granted, indicating a robust agenda for international and domestic policy initiatives.
